Sub- Genre Conventions & Review of Incidious..

Sub-Genre Conventions of 'Insidious'.

Insidious Poster

This film 'Insidious' is a horror movie about a boy and a house. But, it's not actually the house that is haunted. It's the boy...

This film is a horror/thriller which explains why there is a scary image of the boy on the movie poster. There has also been a good use of scary sound effects and music. Especially from the start of the film, which already had given me a chill! The events that occurred in this film were tremendously petrifying as were the sound effects that really made me jump. This film is all about spirits and dreams. However, whilst watching this horror based film, there are many events and secrets to uncover. These events being quite frightening and making the audience jump- especially by the sound effects.

The conventions in this film would be that it has scary sound effects which makes it's audience jump in fright. Another convention would be that it has scary music and figures/shadows used in the specific horror/thriller film. These conventions which make up a horror film are met fully in this thriller. The graphics and faces used in this film builds up frightness and anxiousness as to what is coming next in the film. These were also met by watching the film, and seeing that all of these conventions were present in it. Some more conventions of this particular genre would be, the way most horror films have abandoned houses or isolated mansions present in the setting of the film.
